Bored with what was clearly atypical wealth, I attempted to find a more middle class, anywhere-Mexico-City neighborhood. But unlike ugly Sao Paulo or ugly Berlin, the three ghastly colonias I choose at random completely failed to capture my imagination. Mexico is a post-war city, and an unendearing one at that.

Sixty percent of greater Mexico City lives in informal housing, so despite the depressing landscape, the above neighborhoods are, in fact, still relatively fancy.



I think the green of street trees would offset the ugliness of the gray concrete and asphalt. Would tie the area together, so to speak.
