Buenos Aires Leftovers

In August 2006, Kayt and I spent three weeks in three cities: Buenos Aires, Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo. In just 21 days we managed to take over a thousand photos. Buenos Aires has since been the subject of 18 posts. Here are some leftovers.

Bsasleftovers New York aside, Buenos Aires is my favorite spot on Earth (that I've seen). Ever since we left 8 months ago I have fantasized daily about living there.

Buenos Aires Street Art 1

In contrast to their Brazilian counterparts (as far as we can tell), porteños shy away from traditional graffitti in favor of wheatpastings and stencils. These photos were taken near the Biblioteca Nacional in Recoleta.

Feral Cats of Buenos Aires

All the parks we saw in Buenos Aires were overrun with cats. Typically cats scram under parked cars when I pass but this breed was different. We were left feeling a tad uncomfortable, even bullied. They hung around each other but you could tell they weren't friends. It was somewhat similar to walking through a park of sleeping homeless men: any of them could potentially be schizophrenic and violent, and for all you know they could be one big gang. I'd never realized how well groomed North American cats are. Kayt, for the record, was too disgusted to look at the photos.

Baferalcats

The first is from Parque del Centario in Almagro. Two and three were taken in Plaza Italia in Palermo. The fourth is from Parque Rivadavia in Balvanera. The firth is in the famous Recoleta Cemetery in Recoleta. In the last photo, from the streets of Las Cañitas, the yellow-brown cat is eating the dog's vomit. Enjoy.
